About Us
Stanton Farms is a 1,000 cow Holstein dairy farm, focusing on sustainable family farming through innovation.
Our History
1951
Stanton Farms originated in 1951 when Dyer Stanton purchased a 200 acre farm in Hyde Park, Ontario. With his family, Dyer relocated from Woodstock, Ontario and began milking 50 cows.
1985
In 1971, Dyer’s son Laurie returned home from the University of Guelph with his wife Sandy. Over the years the farm along with their family continue to grow. This picture from 1985 reflects Hyde Parks growth.
2006
In 2006, with urban sprawl encroaching, the farm was relocated to its current location in Ilderton, Ontario. The farm has now grown to 2000 acres of land and includes a double-30 herringbone parlour which milks about 1000 Holstein cows, three times a day.
2010
In 2010 and 2011 respectively, Stanton Farms receives their first two Master Breeder Shields. Stantons in 2010 and Stanbro in 2011.
2018
In 2018, Stanton Farms expands its biodigester, so that it will be able to continue to produce electricity and have the capacity to also put methane gas into the natural gas grid.
2021
Stanton Farms launches Stanton Genetics Inc in 2021, which features a full line of genetics including semen, embryos, fresh cows and breeder bulls. This will allow the farm to sell directly to farmers.
2022
Stanton Farms becomes Ontario’s first agriculture based RNG supplier in 2022, after starting operations of it’s newly expanded biogas facility to transform on-farm and community-based organic waste into the carbon-neutral fuel.
