About Us

Stanton Farms is a 1,000 cow Holstein dairy farm, focusing on sustainable family farming through innovation.

Our History

1951

Stanton Farms originated in 1951 when Dyer Stanton purchased a 200 acre farm in Hyde Park, Ontario. With his family, Dyer relocated from Woodstock, Ontario and began milking 50 cows.

1985

In 1971, Dyer’s son Laurie returned home from the University of Guelph with his wife Sandy. Over the years the farm along with their family continue to grow. This picture from 1985 reflects Hyde Parks growth.
1985

2006

In 2006, with urban sprawl encroaching, the farm was relocated to its current location in Ilderton, Ontario. The farm has now grown to 2000 acres of land and includes a double-30 herringbone parlour which milks about 1000 Holstein cows, three times a day.

2010

In 2010 and 2011 respectively, Stanton Farms receives their first two Master Breeder Shields. Stantons in 2010 and Stanbro in 2011.
2010

2018

In 2018, Stanton Farms expands its biodigester, so that it will be able to continue to produce electricity and have the capacity to also put methane gas into the natural gas grid.

2020

In 2020, Laurie Stanton is inducted into the Middlesex County Agricultural Hall of Fame.

2021

Stanton Farms launches Stanton Genetics Inc in 2021, which features a full line of genetics including semen, embryos, fresh cows and breeder bulls. This will allow the farm to sell directly to farmers.
2021

2022

Stanton Farms becomes Ontario’s first agriculture based RNG supplier in 2022, after starting operations of it’s newly expanded biogas facility to transform on-farm and community-based organic waste into the carbon-neutral fuel.

2023

In 2023, Stanton Farms hosts close to 3000 visitors to view its operation and learn about their genetic line of semen, embryos, fresh cows and breeder bulls. Stanton Farms was also the recipient of Alltech Canada’s Planet of Plenty Award.
